Conifer Area Council Trails Study/Action Team

Conifer Area Council (CAC) Trails Study/Action Team is a group of volunteers committed to identifying and working with agencies to establish trails in and around Conifer. Members include passionate hikers that are active in multiple hiking organizations. The team works closely with Jefferson County Open Space, Transportation and Engineering and Planning and Zoning and Denver Mountain Parks as well as other agencies to facilitate development of trails for the community.

A survey conducted in 2006 identified that Trails is a high priority for our community. Residents clearly indicated that they want better non-motorized mobility connecting schools, parks, commercial areas, and residential areas. CAC responded in 2007 by forming the Trails Study/Action Team.

The Trails Study/Action Team developed a comprehensive plan for a network of trails within our community and the team has been working with Jefferson County to see that this network can come to fruition. Visit the Maps and Plans page for more information.

Since its inception in 2006, the CAC Trails Study/Action Team has raised over $800,000.00 through grants, fundraisers and community donations. These funds were used in 2010 for the trail along Sutton Road between West Jefferson Elementary and the King Soopers Center and in 2013 for a link providing trail access through the US 285 underpass to the south side of Aspen Park. Trail Goals and Objectives

The goal of this Study/Action Team is to connect Conifer area neighborhoods, schools, churches, shopping centers and Open Space Parks for residents to safely walk, hike and bike in the community and to plan for regional trail connections. Trails create opportunities for residents to enjoy another way to get around the community, they provide an opportunity to view wildlife, they encourage healthy lifestyles and they enhance a sense of community for all the area they include.

Meyer Ranch Trails

This team will coordinate with the Jefferson County Offices of Transportation and Engineering, Open Space and Planning and Zoning as well as with Denver Mountain Parks and the Colorado Department of Transportation. We will also work with school administrators, church officials and any other parties Interested in having input in the trails process.

Based on results of the community surveys, this team will develop and offer options for a trails plan within Conifer and for proposed connections to regional trails.

This Team will keep track of properties in transition and will communicate with all agencies, property owners and developers to encourage trail connections to serve the Conifer community.
