Conifer Area Council Began in 2002 With a Vision

Community residents have identified many excellent ideas, suggestions and concerns to improve and/or enhance Conifer. The basis for many of those are the community surveys, dating back to 2006. Through the years, many Study / Action teams and subcommittees have been formed to study long-term ideas, concerns and short-term solutions, all with the focus of preserving our community identity and authenticity in the face of new development.

Utilizing that survey feedback one of CAC’s first priorities was to establish a team that established specific goals and objectives to preserve the character of Conifer. This website section will share information from those Conifer Community Surveys and other visions for our community below:

Meyer Ranch is the historic gateway icon to Conifer, welcoming travelers heading to the mountains. Midway house, built in 1889, served as a stagecoach stop in the early 1900s. CAC has teamed up with Jeffco Open Space to protect and preserve this 667-acre property.

Developing a walkable community, linking three shopping centers in Conifer, is a plan that began in 1987. Dubbed the Conifer Loop, it is in Jeffco’s Comprehensive Plan and a goal championed by CAC.

CAC has joined others in preserving Conifer’s history and residents have consistently identified the need for an Urgent Care Center in Conifer as a top priority, beginning with the 2010 survey. CAC did a deep dive into the feasibility of establishing this in 2021.

Lastly, signs provide a valuable service to every community. In 2009, our comprehensive plan pointed the way to trail, community and wayfinding signs. We present some of those ideas here.
